As I was cleaning out the pond this week the sun was shining and the air was still. A Peacock and a couple of Small Tortoiseshell Butterflies wafted over the Wildflowers in waiting. Tadpoles were wiggling their way from the spawn and it seemed that every bird was proclaiming a stake by singing loudly.
Hovering and hopping through the as yet leafless Sycamores was a Chiffchaff. He almost demanded I took his photo. Repeating his song over and over again he only drew breath to pick the smallest of insect from around the buds.
Even as I write this a Blackcap is giving it what for outside the back door – Spring is here!
