Notice me

We were sat skywatching the other week; waiting for raptors to take to the air, or whatever else may come our way, when we heard a rattle.

That’s how it’s described in the books; or more specifically, a ‘dry rattle’. In the hedgerow next to us a Lesser Whitethroat was making his way slowly to us singing as he did so. All we had to do was wait until he came close. Perhaps a little plainer than his big brother the Whitethroat, this Lesser was trying hard to be noticed.
