If you were to design a really smart bird you would perhaps choose a signal colour putting it together with jet black, give it a satin grey ground colour and maybe finish it off with a sparkling white rump. Unfortunately you would find mother nature has got there before you. Bullfinches can be locally common in Norfolk but can be frustratingly difficult to get close enough to photograph. We managed it last week with several birds. Some were spanking males.
What a beauty–lovely capture.
Thanks Sally it is indeed a stunning bird.
Fantastic picture!
It is my pleasure to nominate you for the Shine On award – you can find out about it here http://margosnotebook.wordpress.com/2013/03/06/shine-on-award/
Thanks Margo that’s very kind of you … on both counts.
